  • Chatt Space 5243 Little Debbie Parkway Ooltewah, TN, 37363 United States (map)

Are you an aspiring writer searching for the perfect book idea? Look no further! The Finding Your Book Workshop is designed to guide you through the exhilarating process of discovering and choosing the ideal concept for your next literary masterpiece. Below is a personal note from your instructor :

Everyone has a story. Or an experience. Or a skill. They have something inside of them that is fighting to get out and they are dying to share with the world.

The question is….what is it?

This is the sticky part. In fact, it’s a bit harder than you might think as you sit here (hopefully slightly bouncing in your chair from excitement). Because in truth, the story you need to tell may be very very different from the story you actually want to tell.

The books we write for ourselves are a form of therapy. They are those stories we carry with us until we simply cannot hold them in a second longer. These stories burst out. They bleed their way on to the page with all of the history, memories and even pain they carry with them. The great part about these stories is that we feel SO MUCH BETTER after we write them.
The bad part? No one else really wants to read them for the most part. Now…there are those exceptions to the rule that take over the bestseller list and live on in history, but these are few and far between.

Am I telling you not to write this book? Not at all. Just know that this may not be the VERY BEST book you have inside you. Not that it wouldn’t be a good book….but don’t we want to shoot for the very best?

That’s what I want for you. I want you to pour your soul into writing something people will carry with them for years to come as they seek to grow and thrives in both their lives and their careers. Something that will make a true difference in someone else’s life and leave little thoughts floating through their head long after they stop turning the pages.

Sound like a good plan? It does to me. So let’s dig into the 2nd kind of book…the one you write for other people.

A very wise woman (and extremely successful literally agent) once told me “Your book is the question you always get asked.”

Wow….that’s powerful. I remember when I first heard that statement I all but brushed it off. After all, I had a brand spanking new book proposal in hand and I was pretty sure it was going to be the ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN. Except.. I never ended up writing it. Because it didn’t fit with who I was. And I was definitely never asked anything about either the book or the topic.

…..back to the drawing board.

Fast forward about three years later when I was speaking at a local professional meeting for about 85 companies. After my talk was over (which included a bio) I looked over to find a line of about 15 people and growing waiting to speak with me. This is fairly common, but today I suddenly found myself listening with a new set of ears. Some of the people wanted to ask questions about the talk, but the majority were asking about my business.

How did I build it?

Where did I find clients?

How do I write a quote?

How did I advertise?

In short….How do I do what I do?!?!
